Archer's Asylum

I'm a big bloke (7ft tall) and I am forever reading. This will mostly be my thoughts as I am reading and possibly a review or two. You may know me as Archer.

I am basically a lurker. My life revolves around my wife, my cats, Books, and entertainment.

I'm working on building and setting up a forge and I'm generally one of those people who can be found causing or in the middle of mischief somewhere...

Assassin's Creed: The Secret Crusade

Assassin's Creed: The Secret Crusade - Oliver Bowden What did I think of Bowden's telling of the Assassin's Creed and Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines games. Well Like so many others I know I have major fault with his writing style. It is sloppy and amateurish. He frequently uses words and terms outside of context that make little or no sense BUT that can be forgiven. As a fan of the AC franchise I recommend these books to most other fans. Sure there are a couple canon issues that can be explained away by this book being a springboard for the revelations game but, I know a few people personally, some will say the book is garbage because of it. It isn't garbage but it could be a fuckload better, and even so I still liked it... ish, his writing has gotten better over the course of the 3 books and maybe at some point he'll get it all right. Until that point though, this is book primarily for the fans (unlike the first 2 which are books for no-one), or even for people interested in the series but who have not played the games. It's an easy book to read, with a good fast paced story.
